The Digital Arts Museum is a building that provides space for research and technology through lower-level workshop spaces, offices, a media room, theatre, and fabrication labs, and upper-level galleries for public art exhibition, including a unique projection surface wall and observatory gallery. The design of this building was conceptualized by taking the natural predominant flow of water and wind to create a shell of thermal glazing to keep the building warm in winter months. This glazing is predominant on the southwest elevation of the building which is open for optimal winter sunlight but also protected from north western winds. It is these unique design concepts that led to the plan layout and material of the structure. Through these design methods, the building creates a sense of movement all while adding to the cityscape and providing shelter from the elements.
